A thank you and a farewell

I was sad to hear the passing of Andrew Gold who died in his sleep of an apparent heart attack on Friday, June 3, exactly two months before his 60th birthday.

His songs such as Lonely Boy played through my clunky walkman headphones many nights when I was a teen.  And often at the end of  a tearful call with my bestfriend 'cause the guy next door dumped me again, I'd place the phone receiver on the speaker of my Sony Cassette player and play her Thank You For Being a Friend.

My Sony Cassette player is long gone, but I can still play a song for you thanking you for all the kind comments on my last post. You keep me inspired.  And thank you, Andrew Gold, for creating this song, for your music, and for sharing your God given talent. You have blessed many.

My blog Amish Stories is having its first ever contest this week. The First prize winner will win 2 tickets to tour the farm where the 1985 move "Witness" staring Harrison Ford and Kelly Mcgillis was made in Strasburg,Pa . This farm is now Amish owned, and the family has given permission for folks to tour their farm. This may be the last time anyone will be able to walk and see the same things that Harrison Ford and the other actors saw during the making of "Witness". The Witness tour should last about 2.5 hours. In addition to the Witness farm tour tickets, 1st prize winner will also receive 2 tickets for Jacobs choice. There will also be a 2nd place prize, which will be 2 tickets for the Amish Homestead. Please go to My blog www.AmishStorys.com for contest details, and more information on the prizes. Richard from the Amish settlement of Lebanon county.

What a legacy Gold left behind, his songs connected with so many. And isn't that the reason for the arts, he must've enjoyed his success.

This is a horrible trivia question to ask at the end of such a touching post but it's going to drive me nuts ... what sitcom is that song from? Friends?

Surely he died far too young!

I had not heard this news. So sad to hear.

I never seen a time more saturated with the need for prayer.

Praying now.

Isn't it strange how we can be so affected and influenced by people we've never met, and so sad when they pass on?

A lovely tribute, and a touching memory.

Such a shame.

I didn't know him, but I knew the song. Sad he died so young (because 59 is definitely young).
